Quote -- Spencer W. Kimball

"Each of us has more opportunities to do good and to be good than we ever use. These opportunities lie all around us. Whatever the size of our present circle of effective influence, if we were to improve our performance even a little bit, that circle would be enlarged. There are many individuals waiting to be touched and loved if we care enough to improve in our performance."

"We must remember that those mortals we meet in parking lots, offices, elevators, and elsewhere are that portion of mankind God has given us to love and to serve. It will do us little good to speak of the general brotherhood of mankind if we cannot regard those who are all around us as our brothers and sisters. If our sample of humanity seems unglamorous or so very small, we need to remember the parable Jesus gave us in which he reminded us that greatness is not always a matter of size or scale, but of the quality of one’s life. If we do well with our talents and with the opportunities around us, this will not go unnoticed by God. And to those who do well with the opportunities given them, even more will be given!"

Quote -- Bruce R. McConkie

"Pure religion is a thing of the Spirit and not of the intellect alone, and its truths must be carried into the hearts of hearers by the power of the Spirit, otherwise the human soul is not changed . . . and the seeker after salvation does not become alive in Christ"

Bruce R. McConkie, Doctrinal New Testament Commentary, 3 vols. [1966-73], 2:318

The Growth Required to Return Home

“One’s life . . . cannot be both faith-filled and stress-free.
“Therefore, how can you and I really expect to glide naively through life, as if to say, ‘Lord, give me experience, but not grief, not sorrow, not pain, not opposition, not betrayal, and certainly not to be forsaken. Keep from me, Lord, all those experiences which made Thee what Thou art! Then let me come and dwell with Thee and fully share Thy joy!’
“Real faith . . is required to endure this necessary but painful developmental process.”

Elder Neal A. Maxwell (1926-2004) of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, “Lest Ye Be Wearied and Faint in Your Minds,” Ensign, May 1951 pg 88,90.

Sarah's Birthday 2010

Today was Sarah's birthday. This evening Brighton and Cara took her shopping for some clothes and after the shopping trip the family got together for some build your own crepes. A Sarah specialty and favorite. Desert consisted of Dad cooked brownie mix topped with candles and powdered sugar by Brighton. The candles were not edible but looked good while lit. Served with vanilla ice cream.

A fun evening was had by ALL
